What is Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy- CRT- D Implant?

It is a procedure to increase the efficiency of chambers of the heart with the help of implanting a particular device called biventricular pacemaker. This device makes the chambers contract in a very organized manner

It requires a minor surgery to implant the device. During the procedure, a lead is placed into a vein under collarbone, and then guided to the heart and it's tip would be attached to the targeted heart muscle. The other end of the lead is attached to the pulse generator, which is placed under the skin of your chest. Two types of devices which are used:

  • (CRT-P) Cardiac resynchronization therapy with a pacemaker. This three different leads.
  • (CRT-D) Cardiac resynchronization therapy with a pacemaker and an ICD. This is for the people with advanced heart issues.
