Details of Arthroscopic Menisectomy

An arthroscopic meniscectomy is a procedure to remove some or all of a meniscus from the tibio-femoral joint of the knee using arthroscopic surgery. It has two ways to perform.

1. Complete meniscectomy. In which the meniscus and the meniscal rim is removed.
2. Partial meniscectomy. where only a section of the meniscus is removed.

• Fractures & Injury.
• Sensation.
• Arthritis.
• Swelling.
• Persistent pain.
• Wear & tear of joints

May be asked for:

• Physical examination
• Imaging tests
• Steinman's test 
• McMurray's test

Treatment options: 

Physical therapy, Bracing, and Medications these are some nonsurgical options.

Arthroscopic surgery: In which a joint is operated on using an endoscopic camera as opposed to open surgery on the joint.  Meniscus transplants. It is rare but a successful procedure.

Meniscus implants: In which meniscus implant is replaced with artificial meniscus implant.
