Details of Artificial lens for cataract

It is procedure through which the natural lens of an eye is replaced with an artificial lens. Basically, when a patient has cataract, the vision becomes cloudy and blurred. For that removing natural lens and implanting a new one is required for clear vision.

• Difficult seeing
• Sensitivity to look at sunlight
• Double vision

During the procedure, the natural clouded lens is replaced with an artificial lens, Sometimes, cataract can be removed without implanting artificial lens.
Methods to perform the surgery:

Phacoemulsification: A minor cut is made in the front of an eye to insert a needle-thin probe into the lens where the cataract is located. Now this probe transmits ultrasound waves to break up the cataract and suction out the fragments.

Laser: An small incision is made in the eye to break the cataract for it's removal.

Extracapsular cataract incision: A large cut in an eye is made to remove the entire cataract.
