Details of Artificial Insemination

It is an advanced form of fertility treatment which involves the use of a flexible, thin tube known as catheter to inject the donor sperm into a woman’s uterus directly. Sometimes, washing the sperm to increase the pregnancy rate really helps.

Causes for this treatment.

• Semen allergy.
• Unexplained infertility.
• Cervical factor infertility.
• Endometriosis-related infertility.
• Mild male factor infertility (subfertility).

This has two approaches:

1. Intrauterine insemination (IUI). It is the most common and effective procedure to deal with the problem of infertility.
2. Intracervical insemination (ICI). it is mostly used that places the donor sperm directly into the cervix, increasing pregnancy rate that sperm will make its way through fallopian tubes and uterus where it can easily fertilize the eggs.

Risks with the procedure:

• Infection.
• Spotting.
• Multiple pregnancy.
