Details of Urethroplasty

Urethroplasty is a surgical method that involves treating an injury or a disorder in the walls of the urethra, the tube-like structure that carries urine from the bladder to other outer parts for urination.

Urethroplasty is not a minor operation, requiring anywhere between three to six hours, and hospitalisation for a day or two in general. The surgeon makes an incision on the scrotum, penis or on the surrounding area with an aim to make the size of the urine channel bigger. A catheter is then placed inside for around four weeks.
