What is Ureterocele?

This is just a swelling to the end of ureter at the entrance of bladder. It is a congenital anomaly which mostly affect girls.

Symptoms of Ureterocele
  • Fever
  • Excessive urination
  • Painful urination
  • Foul-smelling urine
  • Blood in the urine

  • Physical examination
  • Ultrasound X-rays
  • Renal scan
Treatment of Ureterocele

Treatment options:

Transurethral Puncture: It is punctured and decompressed using cystoscope. Upper Pole Nephrectomy: In this the upper half of the kidney does not function from a ureterocele. If there is no urine reflux in the second ureter, the damaged part of the kidney may be removed.
