Details of Tympanoplasty

Tympanoplasty is a surgical technique to reduce the size of the eardrum in case the hole is too large. It is also performed to nurse recurring ear infections.

In the course of the surgery, the surgeon will access the eardrum either directly through the ear canal or make a tiny incision at the back of the ear and make the size of the hole of the eardrum smaller. Usually, tissues from other parts of the body are taken to surround the ear drum hole to reduce its size.
