Details of Renal Angiography

Renal arteriography, also known as renal angiography, is a medical technique through which doctors obtain images of the blood vessels and veins in the kidneys, otherwise not visible during normal X-ray.

In this short procedure, the surgeon inserts a narrow tube known as catheter into the arteries, and then injects a special type of dye through it to make the blood vessels visible. A series of X-rays are taken as the dye travels in the vessels based on which the doctor decides on the next course of treatment.
