Details of Mosaicplasty Surgery-Osteochondral Autografting

This is a technique in which cartilage (‘chondral’) lesions and bone and cartilage (‘osteochondral’) lesions are mended by harvesting and transplanting cylindrical plugs of bone and cartilage. In the knee, these plugs are taken from areas with lesser weight pressure and inserted into drilled tunnels to the defective section of the cartilage.
