This is a potentially disabling disease of the brain and spinal cord. In multiple sclerosis, the immune system attacks the protective sheath (myelin) that covers nerve fibers and causes communication problems between the brain and the rest of the body. It can cause permanent damage of the nerves eventually.

Treatment options:

Corticosteroids: It is prescribed to reduce nerve inflammation.

Plasma exchange: A plasma is removed from the blood and separated from blood cells and then it is mixed up with a protein solution (albumin) and put back into your body.
