Details of Hydronephrosis

It is swelling of kidney. This happens when urine doesn't drain from kidney in a proper manner.

May include:

• Pain in the pelvic area.
• Urinary issues.
• Nausea or vomiting. Fever.

May include:

• Blockage in the tubes
• Anatomical defect
• Vesicoureteral reflux

May be recommended:

• Blood tests
• Urine tests
• Imaging tests

Options:

Medication: sometimes taking medicine is enough and no surgery is required.

Surgery: In cases of severe blockage and hydronephrosis, excess urine may need to be removed using either a catheter to drain urine from the bladder or a special tube called a nephrostomy that drains urine from the kidney.
