A hydrocele is a type of selling in the scrotum occurring when fluid accumulates in the thin sheath surrounding a testicle. Hydrocele is common in babies and tends to vanish by the age 1 without any kind of treatment. Boys and men can also develop it because of inflammation or injury within the scrotum. Hydrocele surgery, also called a hydrocelectomy, can be done under general or regional anesthesia. The hydrocele is removed through an incision made in the scrotum or the lower abdomen.
