This uncommon cancer begins in the gallbladder.

• Pain in the upper right portion of the abdomen
• Abdominal bloating
• Fever
• Losing weight
• Nausea
• Jaundice

• More common in women
• Risk increases with age
• History of gallstones
• Other gallbladder diseases and conditions

• Blood tests evaluating liver function
• CT scan
• MRI scan
• Ultrasound
• If diagnosed, exploratory surgery may be performed with a laparoscope.

Treatment options:

Surgery: This surgery might be performed to remove the gallbladder if it is confined to that area only.

Surgery: This might be performed to remove the gallbladder, a portion of the liver and some of surrounding area as well.

Chemotherapy: This is a method to give drugs through veins in the arm or in the form of pills to kill cancer cells.

Radiation therapy: This is a method to use high-powered beams of energy, such as X-rays and protons, to kill cancer cells.
