Details of Fallopian Tube Cancer

This type of cancer starts in the fallopian tubes. Only about 1% of all reproductive cancers in women is a fallopian tube cancer.

• Bleeding from vagina without period.
• White, clear, or pink discharge from vagina
• Pain or pressure in lower belly
• Lump or swelling in lower belly

Chances are higher if patient has:

• Never given birth
• Never breastfed a child
• Never used birth control pills
• Family history of having the disease

• Symptoms and family medical history
• Physical examination
• Pelvic exam
• Biopsy
• Ultrasound
• CT scan
• MRI scan
• CA125 test

Surgery:

Main treatment. Salpingo-oophorectomy removes one or both fallopian tubes and ovaries. Used to treat early-stage fallopian tube cancers. Total hysterectomy removes uterus, ovaries, and fallopian tubes.

Chemotherapy: This is a kind of procedure, in which certain kind of drugs are given to the patients in cancer affected area or through veins.

Radiation therapy.
