Details of Castleman Disease

It is a disorder in which overgrowth of cells in body's lymph nodes occurs. It mostly affects a lymph node in the chest or abdomen, if it is unicentric. And if it is multicentricm, it affects different nodes in the body.

May include:

• Fatigue
• Night sweat
• Fever
• Nausea
• Liver enlargement
• Unwanted weight loss

May include:

• Blood tests
• Urine tests
• Lymph node biopsy
• Imaging tests like CT, MRI & PET

Treatment options:

For Unicentric disease: If it is unicentric, it be treated by surgically removing the diseased lymph node.

For Multicentric: Immunotherapy. It can be given to block the protein production in excess in people with multicentric disease. Chemotherapy: Some medication can be given the doctor to slow the overgrowth of lymphatic cells. If the patient does not to the immunotherapy.

Antiviral drugs: These medications are given as well to block viruses.
