Details of Bronchoscopy

It is procedure to reach the lungs to examine the airways. It is performed with the help of a thin tube called bronchoscope. It is inserted through nose or mouth to reach the lungs.

May include:

• Persistent cough
• Infection
• Samples of mucus

Causes to do this.

• Stenting
• Samples of mucus
• Diagnosis of a lung
• Biopsy of tissue of lung

During the procedure, a bronchoscope is inserted into nose or mouth to get a biopsy, an electrocautery test to control bleeding or a laser to reduce the size of an airway tumor or for any other purpose.
