Details of Bowel Obstruction

It occurs when the digestive tract is blocked by something other than stool and does not let gas and stool pass through either intestine. It causes a lot of pain and acidity and sometimes require immediate treatment.

• Abdominal pain

• Diarrhea
• Abdominal cramps
• Severe bloating

• Hernia effect
• Intestine twisted
• Tumor growth
• Inflammation

Two main treatment options:

Surgery: In this procedure, the doctor generally removes the area causing blockage and dead tissues due to lack of blood circulation.

Stent: A stent of wire mesh is kept in the bowel at the site of blockage to force the bowel open for passage.
