Treatment of Appendicitis

There are some nonsurgical treatments for this as well but finally or in most of the cases, patient has to undergo a surgery which is called appendectomy.

Now this appendectomy can be performed in two ways:

Open surgery: In which some incisions are made to perform the procedure and then these incisions are sutured to heal properly.

Laparoscopic surgery: In which the surgeon inserts special surgical tools and a video camera into abdomen to remove the appendix. This one is better and fast healing procedure.

Complications of Appendicitis

If not treated, may lead to:

  • A ruptured appendix. This rupture can spread spreads infection to whole abdomen.
  • A pocket of pus that forms in the abdomen.
