Appendicitis is a condition of inflammation of the appendix, which is a tube of tissues extending from large intestine on the lower right side of the human body.

• May include:
• Loss of appetite
• Constipation or diarrhea
• Nausea and vomiting
• Pain in lower abdomen
• Low temperature fever
• Flatulence
• Inability of passing gas
• Swollen belly

May include:

• Blockage
• Infection
• Cancer
• Intestinal worms
• Enlarged lymphoid follicles

• May include:
• Blood tests
• Urine tests
• Pregnancy test
• Pelvic examination
• Chest imaging tests including CT scan and X-ray

There are some nonsurgical treatments for this as well but finally or in most of the cases, patient has to undergo a surgery which is called appendectomy.

Now this appendectomy can be performed in two ways:

Open surgery: In which some incisions are made to perform the procedure and then these incisions are sutured to heal properly.

Laparoscopic surgery: In which the surgeon inserts special surgical tools and a video camera into abdomen to remove the appendix. This one is better and fast healing procedure.

If not treated, may lead to:

• A ruptured appendix. This rupture can spread spreads infection to whole abdomen.
• A pocket of pus that forms in the abdomen.
