Treatment of Aplastic Anemia

Treatment options:

Blood transfusions: It can prevent bleeding by giving blood cells which bone marrow is not producing. It might be Red blood cells or Platelets. First one helps against anemia and fatigue and Later one helps against profuse bleeding.

Stem cell transplant/Bone marrow transplant: In case of having severe aplastic anemia, SCT/BMT might the only option for the patient. This is a preferable option for younger with matching donor-mostly a sibling. In this your diseased bone marrow is first depleted with radiation or chemotherapy, and healthy bone marrow from the donor's blood is filtered and injected into patient's blood stream. Here it starts creating new blood cells.

Immunosuppressants: This for those who can not take BMT/SCT on account of an autoimmune disorder, This involves drugs that alter or suppress the immune system and helps produce new blood cells.
