Ovarian drilling, also known as multiperforation or laparoscopic ovarian diathermy, is a surgical technique of puncturing the membranes surrounding the ovary with a laser beam or a surgical needle using minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures. Women suffering from polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) do not have regular menstrual periods. Fertility medicines may help women with PCOS ovulate more regularly and increase their chance of becoming pregnant. But when these medicines do not work, some women may be helped with a surgical procedure called ovarian drilling.
