Cost of Fibroid Removal Surgery-Myomectomy in India

Uterine fibroid are noncancerous growths of the uterus that often appear during childbearing years. These are synonymously called leiomyomas or myomas. In a myomectomy, the surgeon removes the fibroids, leaving the uterus in place. There are types of this procedure.

Types:

Laparoscopic or robotic myomectomy: This is opted for if fibroids are few in number, slender instruments are inserted through small incisions to remove the fibroids.

Hysteroscopic myomectomy: This option is selected if fibroids are submucosal.

Abdominal myomectomy: If there are multiple fibroids, very large or very deep ones, the doctors may use an open abdominal surgery for removal.

For all these procedures, seedlings, or very small tumors that went undetected during surgery, can eventually grow and cause symptoms that warrant treatment.

This is termed recurrence rate.

New fibroids may also develop, and may or may not require treatment.
