Dentures are worn as replacements to lost or missing teeth. Made of either acrylic or metal. A complete or full denture replaces all the teeth in either one of the jaws, and a partial denture fills in the spaces made by lost or missing teeth only.

The upper denture usually is held in place through strong suction. But in the lower jaw suction is little and it has to be balanced between the tongue and cheeks. In some cases the patient finds the lower denture intolerable, and in this case dental implants may be a suitable alternative.
