Causes of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia-CLL

This lymphocytic leukemia grows when a bone marrow cell develops errors in its DNA. The errors force the cell to continue growing and dividing, when a healthy cell would normally stop dividing and eventually die. When this happens, blood cell production becomes abnormal. The bone marrow produces immature cells that develop into leukemic white blood cells called lymphoblasts. These abnormal cells are unable to function properly, and they can build up and crowd out healthy cells.

Treatment of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia-CLL

Treatments may include:

Chemotherapy: In this drugs are given to kill cancer cells with injection through veins.

Radiation therapy: In this high-powered beams, such as X-rays or protons, to kill cancer cells, if the cancer has spread to central nervous system.

Bone marrow transplant: Also known as a stem cell transplant. It may be used to establish a new immune system.
