Total anomalous pulmonary venous return (TAPVR) is a rare form of heart defect that develops when the baby is in the womb. It is a condition in which all four pulmonary veins that bring oxygen-rich blood from the lungs connect to the right part of the heart or the right atrium, instead of the left side.
